Here is the story of Julian, a 30 year-old man, who stays on top of his health by making regular visits to Dr. Madeline, his primary care physician. Recently, Julian has noticed discomfort and inflammation after eating certain foods. He mentions this to Dr. Madeline, who recommends he see a rheumatologist due to his family medical history.
Julian visits Dr. Duong, a rheumatologist, who orders labs to help inform a diagnosis. Based on the labs, Dr. Duong diagnoses Julian with Crohn’s Disease. Julian is obviously very concerned and seeks Dr. Shelton, a Crohn’s specialist, through a telemedicine service.
Our infographic demonstrates how the blockchain is used as a common registry for medical records between providers. Shared infrastructure for information exchange via a blockchain allows Dr. Shelton to confirm Julian’s diagnosis without repeating blood work. It also provides a way for Julian, the patient, to have more control over how and when his data is shared.
